Input shaft oil seal: replace
Input shaft oil seal: replace
t  If ATF emerges at underside of gearbox bell housing, the oil seal for input shaft and/or ATF breather pipe may be leaking. Please establish the actual cause before replacing the part.
t  The radial shaft seal of the input shaft must be replaced when it leaks .
t  The ATF breather pipe must be renewed if leaking → Chapter.
Check the tool and equipment equivalence table according to the applicability between Seat / VW / Audi / Skoda → Chapter
Special tools and workshop equipment required
   
t  Seal extractor -T40014-
  W00-1084
t  pressure tool -T40015-
  W00-1085
Operation process
  Note
t  Observe the general repair instructions → Chapter.
t  Cleaning norms when working on automatic gearbox. → Chapter
l  Gearbox is removed.
–  Turn in the oil seal extractor -T40014- into the radial shaft seal by hand until the tool engages in the radial shaft seal. Then tighten tool using an open-ended spanner.
–  Screwing in the rear bolt of the oil seal extractor will allow you to pull the shaft seal out a little.
–  Then tighten again using open-end spanner so that oil seal extractor -T40014- engages securely in the radial shaft seal again and pull out the radial shaft seal by screwing in the bolt.
–  Repeat procedure until radial shaft seal is fully extracted.
l  The input shaft must be installed in the gearbox when installing the oil seal.

–  Grease the new radial shaft seal-A- with ATF.
–  Carefully slide the oil seal onto input shaft with open side facing gearbox, not touching the splines on the shaft in the process.
  Note
t  Oil seal can be damaged if it touches splines on input shaft.
t  Push oil seal as far as possible into cover to prevent it from jamming (tilting) when being driven in.

–  Drive seal with thrust piece -T40015- as far as the stop.
–  Fill up with ATF → Chapter.
–  After fitting the gearbox, check the ATF level and refill → Chapter.
