Climatronic control unitJ255, vehicles ▶02.2009: Removing and installing.
Climatronic control unit -J255-, vehicles ▶02.2009: Removing and installing.
Removal:
–  Check the coding and the adaption of the Climatronic control unit -J255- using the function „replace control unit“ of the guided fault finding (if the Climatronic control unit -J255-is to be replaced) → Vehicle diagnostic tester.
–  Switch ignition OFF.
On vehicles with no radio navigation system or radio with large control panel.
   
–  Remove the moulding underneath the Climatronic control unit -J255- in the centre element of the dashboard) → Bodywork, interior fitting work; Rep. gr.68.
On vehicles with radio navigation system or radio with large control panel:
–  Remove the radio or navigation system → Radio, telephone, navigation; Rep. gr.91.
All other vehicles continued
–  Loosen the Climatronic control unit -J255- securing bolts located in the lower part of the control panel.
–  Insert a hand underneath (or from above) into the centre console and release the Climatronic control unit -J255- from the centre console.
–  Release the Climatronic control unit -J255- connectors by lifting the insert tabs and removing them.
  Note
t  The Climatronic control unit -J255- is secured to the centre console by two bolts.
t  Check, in case of a false measurement from the Temperature sensor - dashboard -G56-, the moulding of the Climatronic control unit -J255-, (ensure it is not covered).
t  When replacing the Climatronic control unit -J255- note the correct allocation (for example with or without regulator for thermal seats, etc ). →  Spare parts catalogue.
Installation
Installation is carried out in reverse order.
–  Consult the fault memory of the panel Climatronic control unit -J255- and erase the faults that appear → Vehicle diagnostic tester.
–  Carry out the basic settings, the coding, adaption and, if necessary, the actuator diagnosis of the Climatronic control unit -J255- → Vehicle diagnostic tester.
