  Note
t  A warning lamp in the instrument panel controls will indicate that the selected function is active. Furthermore, the display of the radio or the radio navigation system briefly shows the selected function when briefly pressing one of the buttons or a controller.
t  Changing between the display °C and °F in the display of the radio or the radio navigation system is carried out in the main menu in the dash panel insert. Call up the main menu using the rocker on the windscreen wiper lever (or multi-function steering wheel). Then select settings, units and temperature.
t  When an Air-conditioning control unit and display, Climatronic -E87- is fitted with a new Climatronic control unit -J255-, the basic setting and adjustment of the „Initial commissioning of the air conditioner compressor“ should be carried out in the guided fault finding or in the guided functions.
t  When the control lamp does not illuminate after pressing the AC button, a fault may be registered in the control unit. Call up the error memory with the Vehicle diagnosis, testing and information system -VAS 505X- (or successor models). If the fault „Initial commissioning of the air conditioning compressor not performed“ is stored, the adjustment „Initial commissioning of the air conditioning compressor “ must be performed.
t  Pressing the AUTO button will cancel all settings which deviate from automatic operation.
t  Deviations from automatic operation ⇒ relevant Owner's Manual.
t  Activate the OFF button, Climatronic turned off. Heating and ventilation does not take place.
t  Deactivate the OFF button, Climatronic turned on.
t  Activate the AC button, air conditioner compressor turned on. The heating and ventilation operations continue to be controlled electronically.
t  Deactivated AC button; air conditioner compressor adapts itself in such a way that only a minimum quantity of air flows. The heating and ventilation operations continue to be controlled electronically.

3 - Centre air distribution button
4 - Interior temperature sensor
5 - Lower air distribution button
6 - Lower air distribution button
q   Pressing this air recirculation button prevents polluted air from entering the passenger compartment.
7 - Rear window heating button
8 - Right rotary knob for interior temperature
9 - Button for the right seat heating (option)
10 - AC pushbutton.
q   Press AC button to switch cooling on and off.
q   The warning lamp lights up when the air conditioner compressor is switched on.
11 - DUAL pushbutton.
q   When the control lamp of the button lights up, different temperatures can be set on the left and right sides.
q   By pressing the Dual button (the control lamp goes out) the temperature setting of the drivers side is also taken over on the passengers side.
12 - Blower controller
q   The blower speed is changed by briefly pressing the button.
13 - Air conditioner OFF pushbutton
q   Switching the Climatronic On and Off
14 - AUTO button
q   Pressing AUTO button causes the Climatronic to maintain the selected interior temperature completely automatically. With this setting, the vent air temperature, the blower speed and the air distribution are controlled automatically.

16 - Pushbutton for the seat heating (optional)
17 - Screen on the display of the radio or radio / navigation system
q   Temperature in the left area
18 - Screen on the display of both areas with the vent outflows
