Removing and fitting high-pressure senderG65
Removing and fitting high-pressure sender -G65-
  Note
t  In vehicles with Climatronic , the control and indicator panel, Climate control unit -J255-, processes the signal from the high pressure sender -G65- and activates the compressor via the compressor regulator valve, air conditioning -N280-.
t  In vehicles with Climatic, it is the Air conditioning control unit -J301- which processes the signal from the high pressure sender -G65- and activates the compressor via the compressor regulator valve, air conditioning -N280-.
t  The cooling power cannot be tested once the High pressure sender -G65- is removed, theClimatronic control unit -J255-/Air conditioning control unit -J301- will not activate the compressor.
t  The refrigerant circuit remains closed (connection with valve).
t  Check the operation of the High pressure sender -G65- and the output signal → Chapter.
t  Different fitting locations depending on the engine, for vehicles with 2.0 litre Diesel engine, theHigh pressure sender -G65-for example is not fitted on the coolant hose from the expansion valve to the condenser; it is fitted instead to the tube from the compressor to the condenser.
t  For those vehicles with a 1.6 litre petrol engine, the High pressure sender -G65- may be removed without first removing other components (access from above).
Special tools and workshop equipment required

t  Torque wrench -V.A.G 1331-
  W00-0427
t  Tool insert (17 mm) -V.A.G 1331/6-
Removal:
–  Different components will have to be removed, depending on the engine, see → Engine, mechanics; Rep. gr.13 and → Bodywork, exterior fitting work; Rep. gr.50.
  W00-1126
–  Remove the connector -A- from the high pressure sender -B-.
  Note
When undoing the High pressure sender -G65-, refrigerant escapes from the refrigerant line for longer than 1 second, the High pressure sender -G65- has to be tightened again and the refrigerant must be extracted. The non-return valve of the refrigerant line is defective and has to be replaced.
–  Unscrew high pressure sender -G65--B- from refrigerant line connection.
Installation
Attach in reverse order; note the following:
–  Replace the O-ring -C- → Chapter , allocation → Spare parts catalogue.
  Note
When tightening the High pressure sender -G65- with a suitable tool on the connection of the refrigerant line, counterhold.
–  High pressure sender -B- (tightening torque: 8 Nm) is located behind the plug.
