Renewing air conditioner compressor pulley (?Delphi? compressor) > < Removing and fitting the pulley (compressor brand ?Zexel?)
Pulley: Replacing (compressor make „Sanden“)

Pulley: Replacing (compressor make „Sanden“)
  Note
t  Follow the instructions for the removal of the pulley in the compressor make „Denso“, version „1“; these instructions are also valid for this compressor → Chapter.
t  Carry out preparation work in the same way as for the removal of the pulley in the compressor make „Denso“, version „1“ → Anchor.
t  There are different versions of the air conditioner compressor pulley. Version „1“ of the pulley is fitted on compressors with part number 1K0 820 803 up to index „Q“; compressors with part number 1K0 820 803 from index „S“ onwards are fitted with version „2“ of the pulley (gradual introduction from December 2005 onwards) → Electronic spare parts catalogue.
Renewing pulley (type „1“)
1 - Conical hexagon bolt
q   Replace:
q   To release and tighten the hexagonal bolt, the pulley should be held with a strap wrench
q   Clean the thread of the hexagonal bolt and the thread of the compressor axle to remove fixing agents from old threads before bolting
q   Fit the hexagonal bolt prepared with thread fixing agent (e.g. with D 000 600 A2) → Parts catalogue
q   Tightening torque: 25 Nm
2 - Bolt.
q   To release and tighten the bolt, the pulley should be held with a strap wrench
q   Tightening torque: 4.5 Nm
3 - Drive plate
q   The overload rubber element acts in case of excess torque (in case the compressor becomes difficult to operate) and the pulley moves freely without operating the compressor
q   With a rubber element to separate the pulley from the compressor operation axle, absorb vibrations and noise.
4 - Plate
5 - Circlip
q   Replace:
q   Install in correct position. The inlet chamfer -A- shows away from the compressor (flat side to the compressor)
q   Take special care when fitting the circlip that it is not bent any more than is necessary for fitting
6 - Pulley
q   Clean the compressor bracket before fitting the pulley
7 - Supercharger
q   Depending on the engine version and on the country there are different versions → Parts catalogue
q   Clean the compressor bracket before fitting the pulley

Renewing pulley (type „2“)
  Note
From model year 2008 onwards, air conditioner compressors with a smaller displacement are gradually introduced for vehicles for „cold countries“ (e.g. in Central and Northern Europe); the pulley for these compressors differs slightly from the version in the illustration (for example, the rubber elements -B- are not installed as vibration dampers) → Electronic parts catalogue.

1 - Conical hexagon bolt
  Note
A plastic cap may be fitted additionally to protect thread of compressor shaft (cap is not shown in illustration).
q   Hold pulley using a commercially available strap wrench (fabric strap) when loosening or tightening hexagon nut
q   Before installing, clean residual locking fluid off thread of hexagon nut and thread of air conditioner compressor shaft
q   Apply locking fluid (e.g. D 000 600 A2) when fitting hexagon nut / bolt → Electronic parts catalogue
q   Tightening torque for hexagon nut: 25 Nm
2 - Bolt.
q   To slacken and tighten bolts, hold pulley in position with a commercially available strap wrench (with fabric strap).
q   Tightening torque: 12 Nm
q   Before screwing in, remove old locking fluid from bolt threads and threads of pulley
q   Apply locking fluid (e.g. D 000 600 A2) when fitting bolts → Electronic parts catalogue
3 - Drive plate
q   With overload protection device (attachment of spring elements); triggered if torque is too great (e.g. if air conditioner compressor cannot rotate freely) causing pulley to free-wheel without driving air conditioner compressor
q   Spring elements of drive plate dampen vibrations and reduce noise
4 - Circlip
q   Replace:
q   Do not reverse when installing; chamfer -A- faces away from air conditioning compressor (flat side towards air conditioner compressor)
q   When fitting circlip, take care not to bend it open more than necessary.
5 - Pulley
q   Air conditioner compressor flange; clean before pushing on pulley
q   With rubber elements -B- and threaded plates -C- for decoupling pulley from drive shaft of air conditioner compressor (the rubber elements dampen vibrations and reduce noise)
  Note
Depending on version, threaded plates -C- may also be linked via a ring.
6 - Air conditioning compressor
q   Different versions may be fitted, depending on type of engine and country-specific version of vehicle → Electronic parts catalogue
q   Air conditioner compressor flange; clean before pushing on pulley
