Detaching
l  Remove gearbox.

–  Insert counterhold tool -T20176- to slacken bolts.
  Note
t  When removing pressure disk, use centring guide -U-10050/A- and adapter -U-10050/T- so that clutch plate does not fall.
t  When removing pressure disk from engine assembly, take care that clutch plate does not fall. This can cause damage.
–  Loosen diagonally in several stages.
–  Remove pressure plate and clutch plate.
Installing
Installation is carried out in the reverse sequence; note the following:
  Note
t  The pressure plate and clutch plate should only be renewed together. Assign the pressure plate and clutch plate according to engine code → Electronic spare parts catalogue (ETKA).
t  Check if the centring sleeves are installed in the engine for the purpose of centring the engine with the gearbox and insert these if they are not installed.
t  If the dowel sleeves are not fitted, this will lead to gear-change problems, clutch malfunction and in some cases gearbox noise.

Installation position of clutch plate
l  The lettering „Getriebeseite“ should face towards the gearbox.
  A30-0132
Check ends of diaphragm spring
l  Wear up to half the thickness of the diaphragm spring -arrows- is permissible.
  A30-0152
Check the elastic and riveted joints
–  Check spring connections -arrows A- for damage and make sure riveted joints -arrows B- have a tight fit.
  A30-0153
Checking position of adjustment mechanism, only with new pressure plates
l  Both edges -A- of the adjuster ring must be located between the two notches -arrows B-.
l  In event the adjuster ring of a new plate is located in a different position, do not install the plate nor the clutch plate.
l  The adjuster ring may be located outside the notches when the clutch is used.
  Note
t  Always replace clutch disks and pressure plates with damaged or loose rivet connection.
t  Renew pressure plate and clutch plate together only.
t  Select correct clutch plate and pressure plate by checking engine code → Electronic spare parts catalogue (ETKA)
t  To reduce the unpleasant smells of a burnt clutch, the clutch housing must be thoroughly cleaned, along with the flywheel and engine at the side facing the clutch.
t  Clean the input shaft splines and in the case of used clutch plates, the hub splines. Remove corrosion and apply only a very thin coating of grease for clutch plate splines -G 000 100- to the splines of the input shaft. Then move the clutch plate back and forth over the input shaft until the hub glides smoothly over the input shaft. Excess grease must be removed.
t  Pressure plates are protected against corrosion and greased. Clean contact surface only; otherwise the service life of the clutch will be considerably reduced.
t  Pressure plate contact surface and clutch plate lining must make full contact with flywheel. Only then can the securing bolts be inserted.

–  Reverse position of counter-hold tool -T20176- when installing.
–  To centre the clutch plate, use the centring guide -U-10050/A- with the adaptor -U-10050/T-.
–  Insert the pressure plate in the centring pin.
–  To centre the clutch plate, use the centring guide -U-10050/A- and the adaptor -U-10050/T-.
–  Screw in all bolts evenly by hand until the bolt heads press against the pressure plate.
–  Tighten bolts in small steps diagonally in order not to damage centring holes of pressure plate and centring pins of dual-mass flywheel.
