Special tools and workshop equipment required
t  Hand multimeter -V.A.G 1526 A- or multimeter -V.A.G 1715-
t  Auxiliary measuring set -V.A.G 1594 C-
   
t  Test box -V.A.G 1598/18-
t  Current flow diagram
Checking conditions
l  Fuel pump relay, OK.
l  Fuse no. 18, OK.
Checking voltage supply
  W00-0478
–  Separate 4 pin connector to Lambda probe -G39--1-.
–  Using aux. cables from -V.A.G 1594 C-, connect multimeter to connector contacts 1+2 to measure voltage.
–  Start engine and measure voltage.
   Specification: At least 11 V.
If no voltage is present:
  N24-0156
–  Connect test box -V.A.G 1598/18- to control unit wiring harness.
–  Switch ignition on.
–  Bridge test box sockets 1+25 using aux. cables from -V.A.G 1594 C-. The fuel pump should be functioning.
–  Observe the multimeter reading.
   Specification: min. 11 V
If the specification is not obtained:
–  Check wiring connections to relay plate according to current flow diagram.
