Turbocharger: removing and fitting, Engines BNM and BNV t  Removing → Anchor t  Installing → Anchor Special tools and workshop equipment required

t  Torque wrench -SAT 8010-

t  Support equipment -T20174- Removing   Note To carry out this work it will be necessary to disconnect battery earth strap. For this purpose, first check whether a coded radio is fitted. Where necessary, check the anti-theft coding first. –  With the ignition switched off, disconnect battery earth strap.

–  Remove the sound proofing from the engine by pulling forcefully upwards -arrows- .

–  Remove the supercharger air tube -1- along with the connection tube -2- by separating the spring clips -arrows- .

–  Remove the air filter intake hose -6-. –  Separate the breather hose for the crankshaft sump -2- from the supercharger air pipe -5-.

–  Unscrew bolts -3- and -4- from the supercharger air duct -5-. –  separate using the counterhold -T20174- the supercharger air tube flange -5- to the turbocharger. –  Separate the low pressure tubes from the pressure chamber and from the turbocharger.

–  Disconnect electrical connection -1- from the oil pressure switch -F1-. –  Unscrew the oil delivery tube coupling nut -3- and the securing bolt -4- from its housing.

–  Unscrew the nuts -8- from the engine oil supply line -7- and from the attachment -6- . –  Extract the oil feed tube -7- .

–  unscrew the bolts -1-, -2- and nuts -3- from the exhaust gas recirculation radiator. –  Move the exhaust gas recirculation radiator -9- to one side without removing the coolant lines. –  Extract the attachment nuts from the front exhaust tube to the turbocharger.

–  Remove the thermal protection plate from the exhaust manifold -arrows-. –  Unscrew securing nuts for exhaust manifold.

–  Remove the central soundproofing → Bodywork, exterior installation work; Rep. gr.50. –  Remove the supercharger air pipe between the intercooler and the turbocharger → Chapter.

–  Unscrew the bolts -arrows- and remove the heat protecting plate.

–  Unscrew the oil return tube coupling nut -5- from the coupling connection. –  Remove extraction hose → Chapter. –  Undo the fastening nuts of the exhaust manifold arrows → Item –  Extract the exhaust manifold / turbocharger. Installing Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal while noting the following:   Note t  Always replace seals, gaskets and self-locking nuts. t  Charge the turbocharger with engine oil using the connection sleeve of the oil supply pipe. t  The sleeves for the hoses and the supercharger air flow tubes should be free of oil and grease before fitting. t  Secure all hose connections with the correct hose clips (same as original equipment) → Parts catalogue. t  After fitting the exhaust gas turbocharger, allow the engine to run at idle for about 1 minute, without accelerating; this will lubricate the turbocharger. –  Check oil level → Fig.
