Test sequence
Test sequence
   
–  Pull 2-pin connector off throttle valve positioner -arrow-.
  E23-0018
–  Measure resistance between throttle valve positioner contacts. Specification: 25...45 Ω
If the specification is not attained:
–  Renew throttle valve positioner -V60- together with throttle valve housing → Chapter, Removing and installing throttle valve housing.
–  If specification attained:
  N23-0214
–  Measure supply voltage at throttle valve positioner connector contact 1 and at engine earth.
–  Switch on ignition. Specification: approx. battery voltage
If the specification is not attained:
–  Switch off ignition.
–  Remove wiper arms and cowl panel: → Electrical system; Rep. Gr.92
  N24-0231
–  Connect test box -V.A.G 1598/22- to control unit wiring harness.
  N24-0709
–  Check wiring for open circuit between test box and connector according to current flow diagram. Contact 1+ socket 2 Contact 1+ socket 28 Contact 2+ socket 15 Wire resistance: max. 1.5 Ω
–  Additionally check wires for short to one another, to vehicle earth and to battery positive. Specification: ∞Ω
If no wiring fault is detected:
–  Renew engine control unit → Chapter.
