  Note!
t  Note the use by date of the sealant.
t  Sump must be installed within 5 minutes of applying silicone sealing compound.

–  Cut-off tube nozzle at forward marking (nozzle approx. 3 mm Ø).
–  Apply silicone sealing compound, as shown, to clean sump sealing surface. Sealing compound bead must be:
t  2 … 3 mm thick
t  and run on inside of bolt holes -arrows-.
  Note!
The sealing compound bead must not be thicker, otherwise excess sealing compound will enter the sump and may block the oil suction pipe strainer.

–  Apply silicone sealing bead as shown to the clean sealing surface of the sump. (The illustration shows the position of the sealant bead on the cylinder block).
–  Fit sump immediately and tighten the bolts as follows:
1 - Tighten all sump/cylinder block bolts only very lightly using cross-over sequence.
2 - Tighten the three sump/gearbox bolts lightly.
3 - Retighten all sump/cylinder block bolts lightly using cross-over sequence.
4 - Tighten the three sump/gearbox bolts to 40 Nm.
5 - Tighten all sump/cylinder block bolts to 15 Nm using cross-over sequence.
  Note!
t  When installing an oil sump to an engine which is not joined to the gearbox, ensure the sump is flush with the cylinder block at the flywheel end.
t  After installing a sump, the sealant must be allowed to harden for approx. 30 minutes. Only then may the engine be filled with engine oil.
–  Tighten the oil return pipe bolts to the sump to 10 Nm.
The rest of the assembly is basically a reverse of the dismantling sequence.
