Tightening torques > < Engine: securing the engine to engine bracket

Fitting
Positioning is done in the reverse order of the separation operations, observing the following:
–  Check whether dowel sleeves for centring the engine/gearbox assembly are fitted in the cylinder block; install if necessary.
   
–  Fit intermediate plate onto sealing flange and slide onto dowel sleeves -arrows-.
–  If necessary, check that clutch plate is properly centred.
–  Check wear to the clutch release bearing and replace if necessary.
–  Lightly grease → Parts catalogue the clutch release bearing, release bearing guide sleeve and the input shaft teeth.
–  When installing the assembly, ensure sufficient clearance to drive shafts.
–  Fit the hydraulic clutch slave cylinder → 02R 5 speed manual gearbox; Rep. Gr.30
–  Fit the gearchange mechanism → 02R 5-speed manbual gearbox; Rep. Gr.34
–  If necessary, adjust the gearchange mechanism → 02R 5-speed manbual gearbox; Rep. Gr.34
–  Align engine and gearbox mountings → Chapter.
–  Install front exhaust pipe → Chapter.
–  Mount drive shafts: → Running gear, shafts, direction; Rep. Gr.40
Vehicles with air conditioning
–  Installing air conditioner compressor.
All vehicles (continued):
Electrical connections and cabling → Electrical system; Rep. Gr.97.
–  Fit the supercharger air system hoses and observe the assembly instructions → Chapter
–  Fill liquid coolant → Chapter.
  Note
t  On reconnecting battery, remember to activate vehicle equipment (radio/radio navigation system, clock, electric window lifters) in line with owner's manual.
t  Other measures to be taken when restoring the voltage supply → Chapter.
–  Perform test drive and interrogate fault memory → Vehicle diagnosis, testing and information system VAS 5051.
