t  Pliers for spring-loaded band-type clamps -VAS 6499-, see equivalent → Anchor

Removing
–  Loosen the engine cover at the locations -arrows- and remove.
–  Remove the intake pipe between air mass meter -G70- and the exhaust gas turbocharger.
–  Remove fuel filter → Chapter.

–  Remove bolts -arrows-.
–  Separate the electrical connection -1- of the switch for coolant shortage indicator -F66- and press the coolant expansion tank to the side.

–  Fit the mount -10 222A- with the necessary adapters and attach as shown in the figure, and retain the motor in its fitting position.
  Note
t  The assembly mounting may only be removed if the engine is supported with support bracket 10-222A!
t  The engine mount may only be loosened once the powertrain support assembly has been fitted.

–  Unscrew bolts -1- and -2-, and remove connecting bracket.
–  Unscrew bolts -3 ... 6- and take the engine bracket out.

–  Disconnect the coolant hoses using the hose clip -3094- and remove from the left coolant pipe. For this purpose loosen hose clamp -Arrows-.
–  Unplug the plug connector -3- of the radiator outlet coolant temperature sender -G83-.
–  Remove nut -1- and bolt -2-, remove right coolant pipe.
–  Remove the front right wheel housing moulding.
  WARNING
When raising or lowering the engine with the support -10 222A-, make sure that the components / hoses are not damage, excessively stretched or pulled off.
  Note
The securing bolt -1- is accessible through an aperture in the wheel housing. For removing or placing the bolts -2- and -3-, when required raise or lower the engine using the spindle of the support tool -10 222A-.

–  Unscrew the securing bolts of the engine support in the sequence -3 - 1-.
–  Remove engine bracket upwards.
Installing
Installation is carried out in reverse order, noting the following:
  Caution
The tightening sequence and specified torques for the engine bracket securing bolts must always be followed. Otherwise the engine mount may be exposed to tensioning that will result in the engine mount breaking.
–  Insert engine bracket from above.
  Note
The securing bolt -1- is accessible through an aperture in the wheel housing. For removing or placing the bolts -2- and -3-, when required raise or lower the engine using the spindle of the support tool -10 222A-.
–  First tighten new securing bolts hand-tight in sequence -1…3-.

Tightening sequence for the engine bracket
–  Tighten the bolts in the specified sequence to the indicated torque → Fig..

–  Position engine assembly mounting and first tighten bolts -3- and -6-, then tighten bolts -1- and -2-. Tightening torque → Chapter
–  Next bring engine bracket into contact with assembly mounting using spindle.
–  Screw in and tighten the bolts -4- and -5-. Tightening torque → Chapter
Further assembly is basically the reverse of the dismantling sequence. Note the following:
t  Ensure that fuel hose connections are tight.
t  Do not interchange supply and return hose (return hose blue or blue markings, supply hose black).
t  Fill up with coolant → Chapter.
