Special tools and workshop equipment required
   
t  Torque wrench kit -SAT 8010-, see equivalent → Anchor

t  Counterhold -T20174- or Pliers -T20029-, see equivalent → Anchor
Removing
–  Disconnect battery earth strap.
  W00-2456
–  Remove the engine sound proofing cover, pulling upwards forcefully (-arrows A-) and remove forwards, from the rear attachment (-arrow B-).
  Note
For vehicles fitted with a coded radio, first check the anti-theft code
–  Remove intake manifold → Chapter.
–  Remove the air conduit -4- of the air filter → Item.

–  Disconnect electrical connection -1- from the oil pressure switch -F1-.
–  Unscrew the oil delivery tube coupling nut -3- and the securing bolt -4- from its housing.
Engine identification letters BPX and BUK

–  Unscrew the hollow bolt -arrow- of the oil supply pipe from the oil filter bracket.

–  Remove the thermal protection plate from the exhaust manifold -arrows-.

–  Unscrew the oil supply pipe from the turbocharger and the exhaust manifold -arrows-.

–  If a thermal protection plate is fitted remove it from the right hand side articulated drive shaft -arrows-.
  Note
The connection element for the main exhaust tube should not be bent more than 10° -damage risk-.

–  Unscrew the attachment bolts -arrows- of the primary exhaust pipe/turbo-compressor.

–  Disconnect the exhaust system at clamp -2-.
–  Loosen the exhaust tube from the front part -arrows- of the subframe.
–  Remove the exhaust primary tube.
–  Unscrew the bolt from the supercharger air pipe bracket → Item.

–  Remove the air conduit hose from the turbocharger; to do this, lift the retainers slightly -arrows- and also separate the vacuum tube from the pressure capsule.

–  Unscrew bolts -1- and -2- and take the turbocharger bracket off.
–  Remove the oil return pipe -3- from the engine block and separate the vacuum hose from the turbocharger.

–  Loosen the nuts -arrows-.
–  Remove the flat washers.
–  Pull out the intake manifold upwards/turbocharger.
Installing .
Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal while noting the following:
  Note
t  Always replace seals, gaskets and self-locking nuts.
t  Charge the turbocharger with engine oil using the connection sleeve of the oil supply pipe.
t  The sleeves for the hoses and the supercharger air flow tubes should be free of oil and grease before fitting.
t  Secure all hose connections with the correct hose clips (same as original equipment) → Spare parts catalogue.
–  Install the exhaust system, and adjust it without tension → Chapter.
  WARNING
When assembling the supercharger air pipes, do not use an oil-based lubricant.
–  Fit the supercharger air system hoses and observe the assembly instructions → Chapter.
–  Check oil level → Fig.
  Note
After fitting the exhaust gas turbocharger, allow the engine to run at idle for about 1 minute, without accelerating; this will lubricate the turbocharger.
