Consult the equivalence table for tools and equipment according to applicability between Seat / VW / Audi / Skoda → Chapter
Special tools and workshop equipment required
t  Coolant tester -VAG 1274B-, see equivalent → Anchor
t  Adapter -VAG 1274/8-, see equivalent → Anchor
t  Adapter -VAG 1274/9-, see equivalent → Anchor

Test condition
l  Engine must be warm.
Checking sequence
  WARNING
Hot vapour/hot coolant may escape when opening expansion tank. Cover cap with cloth and open carefully.
–  Open cap on coolant expansion tank.
   
–  Mount the cooling system tester -VAG 1274B- with adapter -VAG 1274/8- onto the expansion tank.
–  Use hand pump on cooling system tester to create a pressure of approx. 1.0 bar.
If the pressure drops:
–  Locate the leak and rectify the fault.
Checking pressure relief valve in filler cap
  A19-10646
–  Place the cooling system tester -VAG 1274B- with adapter -VAG 1274/9- onto the filler cap.
–  Use hand pump on cooling system tester to create pressure.
l  At a pressure of 1.4 ... 1.6 bar, the pressure release valve should open.
If the pressure relief valve does not open:
–  Replace the sealing plug.
