Special tools and workshop equipment required
   
t  Hose clamp -3094-, see equivalent → Anchor

t  Base -VAS 6340-, see equivalent → Anchor
t  Collecting tray -VAS 6208-, see equivalent → Anchor

Removing
–  Disconnect the engine cover-arrow-.
  E10-10060
–  Remove the air intake hose -Arrows-.
  WARNING
Hot coolant and vapours can cause burns!
When the engine is hot the cooling system is under pressure.
To reduce the system charge pressure, cover the expansion tank plug with a rag and open carefully.

–  Disconnect the coolant hoses with the hose clamps -3094-, as shown in the figure.
–  Remove coolant hoses -2- and -3-.
–  Pull out the plug -4-.
–  Unscrew the bolt -1- and remove the pump for the exhaust gas recirculation radiator -V400- with the bracket.
–  Remove the pump for the exhaust gas recirculation radiator from the bracket.
Installing
Installation is carried out in reverse order. Note the following:
Tightening torques → Chapter „Coolant lines, coolant temperature senders, coolant circulation pump: Assembly overview“
  Note
t  Hose connections and air pipes and hoses must be free from oil and grease before fitting.
t  Secure all hose connections with the correct type of hose clips (same as original equipment) → Spare parts catalogue.
t  To secure the air hoses properly at their connections, spray rust remover onto the worm thread of the used hose clips before installing.
–  Fill up coolant → Chapter.
