Removing and installing thermostat

Consult the equivalence table for tools and equipment according to applicability among Seat / VW / Audi / Skoda → Chapter.
Special tools and workshop equipment required
   
t  Measuring container -T10058-, see equivalent → Anchor

t  Torque wrench (5... 50 Nm) -V.A.G 1331-, see equivalent → Anchor
t  "Reducer element 1/2 '' up to 3/8'' -SAT 1006/37-, see equivalent → Anchor

Removing
–  Drain coolant → Chapter.
–  Remove coolant hose from connection fitting. For this purpose lift retaining clips -1-.
–  Loosen bolts -arrows- with socket wrench -T10058-together with "reducer element 1/2"" to 3/8""" -SAT 1006/37-; remove connection fitting with thermostat.

–  Turn the thermostat -2-1/4 turns. (90º) anticlockwise -arrow- and remove from the connecting support.
–  Remove O-ring -1-.
Installing
Installation is carried out in reverse order. The following should be taken into account:

Renew O-ring.
Tightening torques → Chapter „Coolant radiator, thermostat, 4/2 way valve with thermostat: Assembly overview“
–  Clean sealing surface on O-ring and smooth.
–  Moisten new O-ring -2- with coolant.

–  Install the coolant thermostat -3-with O-ring -2- on connection fitting -1- and turn 1/4 (90°) to right.
l  Fitting position: Position thermostat bracket vertically.
–  Moisten O-ring with coolant.

–  Connect coolant hose with plug-in connector to connection fitting → Fig.
–  Fill up with coolant → Chapter.
