Coolant pipe - front: Removing and installing. t  Removing → Anchor. t  Installing → Anchor. Consult the equivalence table for tools and equipment according to applicability among Seat / VW / Audi / Skoda → Chapter.

Special tools and workshop equipment required

t	Lever -80 200-, see equivalent → Anchor

t	Tray -VAS 6208-, see equivalent → Anchor

t	Base -VAS 6499-, see equivalent → Anchor

Removing . –  Remove oil filter bracket → Chapter. –  Remove battery → Rep. gr.27.

–  Unscrew bolts -arrows- and remove battery mounting bracket -1-. Vehicles with manual gearbox

–  Unclip securing clips -1- and -2- on both control cables. –  Pull off selector cable support elements from gearbox selector lever and relay lever.

–  Remove cable support bracket from gearbox -arrows- and place to one side. Vehicles with direct shift gearbox

–  Remove coolant hoses from gearbox oil cooler, loosen hose clips -arrows- for this. Continuation for all vehicles

–  Unplug the connector -3- at intake manifold flap motor -V157-. –  Release hose clip -4- and disconnect air hose from intake manifold flap motor -V157-. –  Remove bolt -2- on exhaust gas recirculation pipe.   Note Disregard items marked -1- and -arrow-.

–  Unscrew the bolts -arrows- and remove the intake manifold flap motor -V157-.

–  Loosen the crankshaft housing breather hose -1- from the cylinder head cover. Press-in the tab for releasing. –  Move vacuum hoses -arrows- on air pipe clear. –  Loosen hose clip -2- and detach air pipe.

–  Unclip wiring harness from retainer -arrow-.

–  Move wiring harnesses -arrows- and electrical connector -1- clear at bracket.

–  Unscrew bolts -2-, -5- and -arrows-. –  Lay the electric lines and hoses on the left air duct pipe free using the removal lever -80 200-. –  Loosen hose clip -3- and remove left air pipe.   Note Disregard -items 1 and 4-.

–  Remove nut -1- and bolt -2-, detach exhaust gas recirculation pipe.

–  Unscrew oil supply line from connection on oil filter bracket. To do so, counterhold at hexagon flats with an open-end spanner and slacken union nut -3-.   Note Disregard -items 1 and 2-.

–  Remove nut -2- at retaining clip for vacuum line. –  Unscrew bolt -1-. –  Unscrew oil supply line from connection on turbocharger. To do so, counterhold at hexagon flats with an open-end spanner and slacken union nut -3-.

–  Remove and disconnect the connector -2- of the Hall sender -G40- from the support . –  Remove bracket from front coolant pipe. –  Remove the coolant hose. Loosen the hose clips -1- and -3- for this purpose. –  Unscrew the screws -arrows- and remove the coolant pipe at the front right from the cylinder head. Installing . Installation is carried out in the reverse order; note the following: l  Tightening torques → Chapter, → Chapter.   Note t  Renew gaskets, seals and O-rings. t  Hose connections and air pipes and hoses must be free of oil and grease before assembly. t  Secure all hose connections with the correct type of hose clips (same as original equipment) → Parts catalogue. t  To ensure that the air hoses can be properly secured at their connections, spray rust remover onto the worm thread of used hose clips before installing. –  Clean or smoothen sealing surface for O-ring.

–  Lubricate the new O-ring -1- with »G12+« and mount to the coolant pipe -2-. –  Slide coolant pipe into opening in cylinder block. –  Install oil supply line → Item. –  Install exhaust gas recirculation pipe → Item. –  Install air pipe (left-side) → Chapter. –  Install intake manifold flap motor -V157- → Chapter. –  Gear mechanism: attach and adjust on the gearbox → Rep. gr.34. –  Install battery mounting and battery → Rep. gr.27. –  Fit the oil filter bracket → Chapter. –  Replenish coolant → Anchor.
