Special tools and workshop equipment required
t  Hose clamp -3094-, see equivalent → Anchor
t  Tray -VAS 6208-, see equivalent → Anchor
t  Base -VAS 6499-, see equivalent → Anchor

Removing .
   
–  Remove the engine cover upwards -arrows-.
  E10-10085
–  Loosen bolt -1-.
–  Unscrew bolt -2- and nut -3-.
–  Take hose retainer -4- off fuel filter, place fuel filter -7- aside (fuel hoses -5- and -6- remain connected).

–  Fit the centre noise insulation -fasteners 1 ... 3-.

–  Remove the right wheel housing -Fixing parts 1 ... 3-.

–  Place the drip tray -VAS 6208- under the engine.
–  Unplug electrical connector -3- at gearbox speed sender -G38-.
–  Disconnect the coolant hoses using the hose clip -3094- and remove from the right coolant. For this purpose, loosen the clip -arrow-.
–  Unscrew nut -1- and bolt -2-, and remove right coolant pipe.
Installing .
l  Specified torque → Chapter.
Installation is carried out in the reverse order; note the following:

Secure all hose connections with the correct type of hose clips (same as original equipment) → Parts catalogue.
–  Install the right wheel housing → Bodywork, exterior fitting work; Rep. gr.50.
–  Fit the centre sound proofing → Exterior body installation work; Rep. gr.50 .
–  Install fuel filter → Chapter.
–  Check coolant level → Anchor.
