Removing
–  Disconnect the engine cover-arrow-.
–  Remove the sound insulation from the injector valves.
–  Remove the injectors → Chapter.
–  Remove the high pressure reservoir (rail element) → Chapter.
  Caution
Pay particular attention not to damage the wires when removing the connections, because otherwise it would be necessary to replace the entire wiring harness. Do not press pliers -3314- together excessively when removing the connection, because otherwise the bearing supports could be damaged.

–  Apply the Pliers -3314- in such a way that the groove -Arrow A- is on the edge of the support sleeve -Arrow B- and remove the connectors from the glow plugs.

–  Remove the connector of the glow plug carefully -in the direction of the arrow-.

–  Remove the bracket -1- with the line connection of the Lambda probe -G39- and the Exhaust temperature sender 3 -G495- from the cylinder head cover.

Item -2- can be disregarded.

–  Unscrew bolts -Arrows- for fuel lines.

-Items 1 and 2- can be disregarded.
–  Remove the crankcase breather hose -3- and place it aside.

–  Remove bolts -1- to -7- and detach cylinder head cover.
Installing
Installation is carried out in reverse order. The following should be taken into account:

Replace cylinder head gasket if damaged.

–  Install the cylinder head cover: Installation process.
1.  Fit bolts in the sequence -1 to 7- and hand-tighten in several stages.
2.  Tighten bolts in the sequence -1 to 7- to 10 Nm using torque wrench.
