1 - Cylinder head
q   Removing and installing → Chapter.
q   After renewing, renew entire coolant.
q   Check for distortion → Fig..
2 - Washer
q   For cylinder head bolt.
3 - Cylinder head bolt
q   Note the fitting order when loosening and tightening → Anchor
q   Before installing, place washers in cylinder head → Item.
4 - 25 Nm
5 - Lifting eye
6 - Gasket
q   Renew
7 - Vacuum pump
q   Removing and installing → brake system; Rep. gr.47.
8 - 10 Nm
9 - Coolant connection
10 - 10 Nm
11 - Gasket
q   Renew
12 - 25 Nm
13 - Lifting eye
14 - Cylinder head gasket
q   Renew
q   Note marking → Fig..
q   After renewing, renew entire coolant.
15 - Hall sender -G40-
q   For camshaft position.
16 - 10 Nm

   
Checking cylinder head for distortion
–  Use knife-edge and feeler gauge to measure cylinder head at several points.
l  Permissible distortion, max. 0.1 mm.
  Note
The cylinder heads for diesel engines may not be reworked.

Identification of cylinder head gasket
t  Part No. = -Arrow 1-
t  Holes = -Arrow 2-
t  Production code = -Arrow 3- (can be disregarded)
  Note
Depending on the projection measurement of the pistons, gaskets of varying thickness are fitted → Chapter. When renewing gasket, install new gasket with same identification.
