1 - Plug
q   Replace the gasket if worn
2 - Lock ring
3 - Tank cover unit
q   Removing and fitting: → Bodywork-fitting work; Rep. Gr.55
4 - Deaeration line
q   To the activated charcoal filter → Item
5 - Gravity/safety valve
q   To remove, free the safety clip and remove the valve from the filler hole, upwards
q   Test the continuity of flow of the valve Valve perpendicular: open Valve inclined 90o: closed
6 - Earth connection
q   Check for firm seating
7 - 4 Nm
8 - Fuel gauge sender
q   Removing and fitting → Chapter
9 - Hose/return hose
q   Blue or blue mark
q   Clipped to the upper part of the fuel tank
q   Check for firm seating
q   From the fuel distributor: → Rep. Gr.24
10 - Connector nut, 75 Nm
q   Remove and fit with spanner -U-40055A-
11 - Flange
q   Check the fitting position on the fuel tank → Fig.
12 - Undulated tube
q   Must not touch the fuel tank because pump noise may be transmitted
13 - Ring gasket
q   Replace if worn
q   Wet with fuel before fitting
14 - Fuel supply unit
q   Check the fitting position on the fuel tank → Fig.
q   Removing and fitting → Chapter
q   Test the fuel pump → Chapter
q   Clean the filter if dirty
q   Bear in mind the arrows on the flange
q   With fuel level sender → Chapter
15 - Fuel filter
q   Fitting position: the arrow points in the direction of flow
16 - Supply line
q   Black
q   Clipped to the upper part of the fuel tank
q   Check for firm seating
q   To the fuel distributor: → Rep. Gr.24
17 - 3 Nm
18 - Fuel tank
q   During fitting, secure it with the engine/gearbox lift -SAT 1001A-
q   Removing and fitting → Chapter
19 - 25 Nm
20 - Dust protector
q   After fitting the filler hole, seat it above the mouth of fuel tank.
21 - Filler hole
q   With anti-return valve
22 - Deaeration valve
q   Testing → Fig.
q   To remove, expel it laterally from the filler hole
q   To remove, press the lock tab lightly inwards and remove the valve
q   Before fitting the cap must be removed → Item
23 - O-ring
q   Replace if worn
24 - Dust protector
q   For filler hole

   
Fitting position for the fuel supply unit flange
The marks on the flange and the fuel tank must coincide.
Return line, blue or with blue mark, -1- to the connection identified with an arrow pointing towards the interior of the pump.
Supply line, black, -2- to connection identified with an arrow pointing towards the exterior of the pump.
  Note!
Once the fuel tank is fitted, check that the supply, return and deaeration hoses are still attached to the tank.

Checking breather valve
Lever at rest position: closed.
Lever set in direction of arrow: open.
  Note!
Before fitting the deaeration valve, remove the fuel tank cap.
