Check the throttle valve's potentiometer > < If the display always reads: 0, continue testing as follows:
Check the operating state
Check the operating state
–  Attach the unit -V.A.G. 1551- (-V.A.G. 1552-). Switch on the ignition and enter “direction code” 01 to select the engine control unit. (Fault finder: Connect and select the engine control unit → Vehicle diagnosis, testing and information system VAS 5051.)
   
Display reading:
–  Press buttons 0 and 8 for the function “Read the measurement values block” and confirm the entry with the Q button.

–  Press buttons 0, 9, and 8 for “Display group number 98” and confirm the entry with the Q button.

–  Check the throttle valve control unit's operating state in display field 3.

   1Idle switch open (switch consultation)

If the theoretical values are not reached:
–  Adapt the engine control unit to the throttle control unit → Chapter.
–  Repeat the test.
If once again the theoretical values are not reached:
–  Test the throttle control unit's voltage supply as well as the cables towards the control unit → Chapter.
