Reading and clearing engine control unit fault memory
Consult the equivalence table for tools and equipment according to applicability among Seat / VW / Audi / Skoda → Chapter.
Special tools and workshop equipment required
   
t  Central diagnosis -VAS 505X-
t  3m. Cable -VAS 5051/5A- or 5m. cable -VAS 5051/6A- or diagnosis cable -VAS 5052/3-1-
Operation process
–  Connect the self diagnosis -VAS 505X- as described below:
  W00-10343
–  Connect 3m cable -VAS 5051/5A- or 5m cable -VAS 5051/6A- or diagnosis cable -VAS 5052/3-1- to the diagnosis connection.
–  Start engine and allow to idle.
Only when engine does not start:
–  Switch on ignition.
–  On the screen, push the „Vehicle self-diagnosis“ button.
Selecting vehicle system
–  Press button „01 - Engine electronics“ on display.
The control unit identification and engine control unit coding are indicated on display.
Selecting diagnostic function
–  Press button „02 - Interrogate fault memory“ on display.
–  If no fault is stored in engine control unit „0 fault(s) detected“ is displayed.
–  If faults are stored in the engine control unit, they will be displayed as a list.
–  Press the ← button.
–  Press button „05 - Erase fault memory“ on display.
–  Press function „06-End output“.
