Oil pressure and oil pressure switch: checking
Consult the equivalence table for tools and equipment according to applicability among Seat / VW / Audi / Skoda → Chapter.

Special tools and workshop equipment required
t  Oil pressure tester -VAG 1342-, see equivalent → Anchor
t  Voltage tester -VAG 1527B-, see equivalent → Anchor
t  Auxiliary cable kit -VAG 1594C-, see equivalent → Anchor

  Note
Checking operation of and servicing visual and acoustic oil pressure gauge → Current flow diagrams, Electrical fault finding and Fitting locations.
Test prerequisites
l  Check oil level → Fig.
l  Engine oil temperature: at least 80 °C (the cooler fan must have run once)
Checking sequence

–  Detach the outer -1- and inner -2- engine covers, by pulling them evenly upwards.
  E01-10018
–  Disconnect electrical connection -arrow-fromoil pressure switch -F1-.
–  Remove oil pressure switch -F1-.
  A17-0347
–  Screw the oil pressure tester -VAG 1342- into the hole for oil pressure switch.
–  Screw oil pressure switch -2- into oil pressure tester -VAG 1342-.
–  Connect brown wire -1- of tester to earth (-).
–  Connect voltage tester -VAG 1527B- with auxiliary cables from the auxiliary cable kit -VAG 1594C- to positive of battery (+) and to oil pressure switch.
LED should not light up.
–  If the LED lights up, replace oil pressure switch -F1-.
–  Start engine and increase revolutions slowly.
–  The LED should light up between 0.55 ...0.85 bar of overpressure; if not replace oil pressure switch -F1-.
–  Increase engine speed further. At 2000 rpm and an oil temperature of 80°C, the oil must have a min. pressure of 2.0 bar.
At a higher engine speed, the oil pressure should not rise above 7.0 bar; if so remove the oil pump → Chapter and check the discharge valve.
