Consult the equivalence table for tools and equipment according to applicability among Seat / VW / Audi / Skoda → Chapter.
Special tools and workshop equipment required
   
t  Spanner -T10202-, see equivalent → Anchor
  W00-1334
t  Torque wrench -V.A.G 1332-, see equivalent → Anchor.
Removing .
Please observe safety precautions → Chapter.
Observe rules for cleanliness → Chapter.
l  For removing the fuel supply unit, the fuel tank should be filled to a maximum of 3/4 of its capacity. If necessary then drain the tank → Chapter.
–  Check whether a coded radio is fitted in the vehicle. If so, obtain anti-theft coding:
–  With the ignition switched off, disconnect battery earth strap → Electrical system; Rep. gr.27
–  Remove the rear seat bench → Bodywork, interior fitting work; Rep. gr.72.

–  Release the floor covering under the seats, lift and fold forwards → Bodywork - interior fitting work; Rep. gr.70.
–  Release retainers -arrows- at cover for sealing flange.

–  Release carefully electrical connection -arrow- on sealing flange and take off.
  WARNING
t  The fuel system is pressurised. Before opening the system place a cloth around the connection. Then release pressure by carefully loosening the connection.
t  The temperature of the fuel lines or the fuel may reach up to 100 ºC in extreme cases. Before opening the duct connections, allow the fuel to cool otherwise there is a risk of severe burns.
t  Wear protective gloves.
t  Wear eye protection.

–  Separate fuel supply line -1- and fuel return line -2- by pressing release tabs.
  WARNING
For removing the fuel supply unit, the fuel tank should be filled to 3/4 maximum.

–  Remove the sealing ring using the spanner -T10202-.
–  Pull fuel delivery unit and seal out of the opening in fuel tank.
Fitting .
Installation is carried out in the reverse order; note the following:

t  When inserting fuel delivery unit, ensure that fuel gauge sender is not bent.
t  Moisten seal with fuel only when installing flange or fuel delivery unit.
t  Ensure that fuel hose connections are tight.
t  After installing fuel delivery unit, check that the supply, return and breather lines are still clipped onto the fuel tank.
–  Insert seal for sealing flange dry into opening of fuel tank.
–  Introduce the fuel supply unit, with the lock clamp still removed, in the fuel tank.

–  Note the installation position of the sealing flange:
l  The tab -2- on the sealing flange must lie between the tongues -1- and -3- on the fuel tank.

–  Tighten the sealing bolt to 110 Nm.
