Removing and installing radiator t  Removing → Anchor. t  Installing → Anchor. Consult the equivalence table for tools and equipment according to applicability among Seat / VW / Audi / Skoda → Chapter. Special tools and workshop equipment required

t  Tray -VAS 6208-, see equivalent → Anchor

t  Pliers for spring-loaded band-type clamps -VAS 6499-, see equivalent → Anchor Removing   Note Collect drained coolant in a clean container for re-use or disposal.   WARNING Hot vapour/hot coolant may escape when opening expansion tank. Cover cap with cloth and open carefully. –  Open the Sealing plug of the coolant expansion tank.

–  Release quick-fasteners -1- and -2- and take off front noise insulation. –  Remove the front bumper cover → exterior body installation work; Rep. gr.63. –  Place the drip tray -VAS 6208- under the engine. Vehicles with coolant drain plug –  Open coolant drain plug on coolant hose (bottom) at radiator. Vehicles without coolant drain plug

–  remove the fastening clamps-1- at theCoolant temperature element at the coolant outlet -G83--2- . –  Pull radiator outlet coolant temperature sender -G83- out of hose connection and drain off coolant.

Continued for all vehicles –  Remove the coolant hose under the radiator -arrow-.

–  Detach upper coolant hose -arrow- from radiator.

–  Unplug electrical connectors (left and right) -1- for horns -2-. –  Unscrew nuts -3- and remove alarm horns -2-. –  Unscrew bolts-4- and remove front cross member -5-.

–  Unscrew the air inlet to the left and right of the cooler-arrows-.

–  Suspend the temperature sensor for outside temperature -G17--2- from the bracket. –  Unscrew bolts -3- and -4- for power steering cooling pipe; the hydraulic hoses remain attached. –  Detach electrical connector -1- at high-pressure sender -G65-.   WARNING The air conditioning refrigerant circuit must not be opened. –  Unscrew securing bolts -arrows- for condenser.   Note To prevent damage to the refrigerant lines, ensure that the pipes and hoses are not stretched, kinked or bent. –  Move the condenser with the connected lines downwards.

–  Release both retaining bolts for the radiator and lift off -arrows-. –  Swivel radiator forwards and lift off. Installing Reassembly is carried out in the reverse order; note the following: –  Fit the front bumper trim → Bodywork, exterior fitting work; Rep. gr.63. –  Fill up with coolant → Anchor.   Note The coolant in the entire system must be changed if the radiator is renewed Tightening torques
