Special tools and workshop equipment required
t  TORX Bit assortment -VAG 1766-, see equivalent → Anchor
t  Torque wrench -VAG 1783-, see equivalent → Anchor.
t  Ratchet 1/4' x 9-11 -VAS 6234-, see equivalent → Anchor
t  Pliers for spring-loaded band-type clamps -VAS 6499-, see equivalent → Anchor

   
Removing
–  Disconnect connector -1-.
–  Release the cable harness -2- from the support.
–  Remove bolt -3-.
  Note
Do not extract the valve 1 for variable distribution -N205- from the connector.

–  Loosen the bolts -arrows-, and extract the valve 1 for variable distribution -N205- from the housing.
Fitting
  Note
t  The valve 1 for variable distribution -N205- and the housing must not be dirty.
t  The new valve 1 for variable distribution -N205- must only be removed from its packaging immediately before assembly.
  Caution
Take care to protect the inlet camshaft control valve 1 -N205- from knocks and impact.
–  Lubricate the seal with engine oil.
–  Carefully fit inlet camshaft control valve 1 -N205- into housing and press in by hand as far as the stop (exert pressure in line with axis of valve).
–  Screw in the screws, and tighten using the torque wrench -VAG 1783-, the ratchet 1/4" x 9-11" -VAS 6234- and socket TORX T20.
–  When tightening bolts, apply 4 Nm torque
Continue installation following reverse order for removing.
