Radiator: removal and installation (Altea, Altea XL, Leon) t  Removing → Anchor t  Installing → Anchor   Note t  This engine is equipped with a combination of engine cooler and low-temperature cooler for the supercharger system. t  The engine cooler and low-temperature cooler are combined in one unit. Consult the equivalence table for tools and equipment according to applicability among Seat / VW / Audi / Skoda → Chapter.

Special tools and workshop equipment required

t	Refractometer -T10007A-, see equivalent → Anchor

t	Base -VAS 6340-, see equivalent → Anchor

t	Torque wrench -VAG 1331-, see equivalent → Anchor.

Removing –  Remove air filter → Chapter. –  Separate the under body protection.

Drain the coolant from the engine cooling system. –  Remove connector -1- on the coolant temperature sender -G83- at the radiator outlet. –  Remove the retaining clip -arrow- and the connection nozzle from the radiator.   Note Please observe requirements for disposal.

Drain the coolant from the cooling system of the supercharging air cooling. –  Separate the hose (quick-release fastener) -arrow- from the lower connection support of the low-temperature of the charged air cooler.   Note Please observe requirements for disposal. –  Separate the upper radiator coolant tube. –  Pull connector off thermo-switch and radiator fan. –  Remove the air conduit with the radiator fan -V7- and remove the radiator fan 2 -V177- → Chapter. –  Remove the front bumper cover → Exterior body installation work; Rep. gr.63.

–  Unscrew securing bolts -arrows-. –  Swivel top edge of radiator slightly to rear. –  Lift the radiator from the lower supports and press backwards.

Vehicles with air conditioner:   WARNING Risk of injury due to refrigerant. The air conditioning refrigerant circuit must not be opened. –  Separate the lateral radiator coolant bracket. –  Extract the attachment bolts -arrows- of the condenser. –  Fasten the condenser to the lock carrier using the cable tie. –  Take out radiator downwards Installing Installation is carried out in the reverse sequence; note the following: Method for filling fresh coolant → Chapter. –  Install air filter → Chapter. –  Electrical connections and cable layout: → Current flow diagrams, Electrical fault finding and Fitting locations Tightening torques:
