Removing and installing air filter element
Removing and installing air filter element
   
Removing:
–  Unscrew the bolts -arrows- from upper part of air filter.
–  Lift up upper part of air filter and remove air filter element.
Installing:
Tightening torques: → Chapter
  Note
t  Always use genuine part for air filter element.
t  The couplings and air hoses of the supercharging system must be free from oil and grease before assembling. Do not use any lubricants containing silicone when assembling.
t  The air filter housings should be clean.
t  Secure all hose connections with the correct type of hose clips (same as original equipment) → ETKA (electronic parts catalogue).
t  Upon blowing the air filter housing with pressurised air take note of the following: To prevent malfunctions, cover all critical parts of the engine air intake tract such as air mass meter, intake pipes, etc. with a clean cloth.
t  Please observe requirements for disposal.
–  Check for salt residue, dirt and leaves in air mass meter and air intake hose (engine intake side).
–  Check for dirt in air intake hose from air duct.

–  Remove the snow screen -1- and clean it.
  Note
The snow screen is not installed in all vehicles.

–  Clean the water drain -arrow- and lower part of air filter.
–  When installing the air filter element, check that it is properly centred in the retainer in the air cleaner (bottom section).
–  Carefully and without force, place the top air filter element on the bottom element. Ensure that the top air filter element is not inclined on the filter element (note the sealing lip with which the filter insert is equipped).
Further assembly in reverse order of removal.
