Throttle valve control unitJ338: cleaning
Throttle valve control unit -J338-: cleaning
Special tools and workshop equipment required
t  Acetone
  Note
t  Observe rules for cleanliness → Chapter.
t  Take care not to scratch the throttle valve housing when cleaning it.
Procedure:
–  Remove the throttle control unit → Chapter.
   
–  Open throttle valve by hand and block throttle valve in open position with a suitable object -arrow-.
  WARNING
Acetone is highly inflammable. Respect the accident prevention regulations and the safety indications when working with highly inflammable liquids. Do not use compressed air to clean the throttle valve. Wear safety goggles and protective clothing to avoid possible injury and skin contact.

–  Thoroughly clean throttle valve housing, especially around closed throttle valve, using commercially available acetone and a cleaning brush.
–  Clean the throat of the throttle valve with a lint free cloth.
–  Wait for the acetone to evaporate completely and then fit the clean control unit.
–  Adapt engine control unit to throttle valve module using a → vehicle diagnosis tester in „Guided functions“.
