Fuel delivery unit: Removing and installing Check the tool and equipment equivalence table according to the applicability between Seat / VW / Audi / Skoda → Chapter Special tools and workshop equipment required

t  Spanner -T10202-

t  Torque wrench (40 - 200 Nm) -V.A.G 1332- Removal: l  The fuel tank must not be more than 3/4 full.   Note t  If necessary, empty the fuel tank with the fuel extractor -VAS 5190- → Chapter. t  Observe the safety precautions before starting work → Chapter . t  Observe rules for cleanliness → Chapter. –  Remove the rear right seat → Rep. gr.72.

–  Remove cover from fuel delivery unit.

–  First check if the connector -arrow- has been inserted correctly; pull on the connector without pressing the locking mechanism. Malfunctions may arise when the connector has not been inserted correctly. –  Extract the connector -arrow- from the fuel delivery unit. –  Check the contact on the plug connector and the fuel supply unit for damage.   WARNING Fuel supply line is pressurised. Wear safety goggles and appropriate clothing to avoid injury and contact with skin. Before loosening hose connections, wrap a cloth around the connection. Then eliminate the pressure by carefully separating the pipe.

–  Disconnect the fuel lines -1- and -2-.   Note Press in safety ring to release fuel lines.

–  Open the sealing ring using the spanner -T10202-. –  Pull fuel delivery unit and seal out of their housing in fuel tank.   Note If the fuel delivery unit needs replacing, drain the old delivery unit prior to disposal. Installing Installing the fuel delivery unit is carried out in the reverse order. The following should be taken into account: –  Renew seal. –  Insert dry seal for fuel delivery unit into opening of fuel tank. –  Moisten the seal on the inside with fuel. –  When inserting fuel delivery unit, ensure that fuel gauge sender is not bent.

–  Tighten downwards the locking flange using force until leaving it in its fitting position. l  Lug -2- on sealing flange must be between tabs -1- and -3- on fuel tank. l  -Arrow- indicates flow direction. –  Tighten the lock ring. l  Tightening torque: 110 Nm

–  Connect the fuel supply line -1- (black). –  Connect the return line -2- (blue or marked mark).

–  Insert the plug connector -arrow-. –  Pull on the connections and the plug connector to check if they have been connected correctly. Further assembly is performed in the reverse sequence. The following should be taken into account: Pull on the line connections to check if they have been connected correctly.

The arrow on the cover -2- indicates direction of movement.
