Removing
Engine code letters BJB, BKC, BXE, BXF
–  Pull the oil dipstick -1- out of the guide tube.
–  Lift the engine cover by the sides -arrows 2- and pull it out forwards -arrow 3-.
–  Replace the oil dipstick in the guide tube.

–  Remove the electrical connector -2- from the air mass meter -G70-.
–  Detach vent hose -1- and air duct hoses -3- and -5-.
–  Remove bolt -4- and take out air cleaner housing.

–  First remove the outer cover -1- and then the inner cover -2- upwards equally.

–  Unplug electrical connector -5- at air mass meter -G70-.
–  Remove the de-aeration hose -1- and loosen the bracket -2- of the air duct hose -3-.
–  Separate the flexible aeration hose -6- and the flexible air hose -8-.
–  Remove bolt -7- and take out air cleaner housing.

  WARNING
Observe safety precautions when disconnecting the battery → Electrical system; Rep. gr.27.

–  Disconnect the earth terminal -3- and positive terminal -2- from the battery, with the ignition disconnected → Electrical system; Rep. gr.27.
–  Remove the battery and bracket → Electrical system; Rep. gr.27 .
  WARNING
Hot vapour/hot coolant may escape when opening expansion tank. Cover cap with cloth and open carefully.
–  Open the cap of the coolant expansion tank.

–  Remove central noise insulation -Attachment parts 1 ... 3-.
–  Drain coolant → Chapter.

–  Remove from the front part of the air duct pipe, the air hose at the bottom left; to do this lift the securing clips -2-.
–  Remove bolt -1-.
–  Remove coolant hose from the air ducts -arrow-.

–  Disconnect vacuum line -3- from the reserve tank.
–  Disconnect the electrical connection -4- from the supercharger pressure sender -G31-
–  Remove coolant hose -6- from the air ducts -arrow-.
–  Unscrew bolts -2- and -5-.
–  Remove air duct by lifting retaining clips slightly -1-.

–  Remove left-hand air duct hose.
–  Unscrew bolt -arrow- on left air pipe.

–  Unclip circlips -1- and -2- from both selector cables.
–  Pull off selector cable support elements from gearbox selector lever and relay lever.

–  Remove cable support bracket from gearbox -arrows- and place to one side.

–  Unplug electrical connector -1- from the oil pressure switch-F1-.
–  Remove oil pressure switch -2-.
–  Remove the oil supply tube on the support -3-.

–  Disconnect flexible coolant hose between the engine and radiator -arrow-.

–  Remove bolts -2-, -3- and separate the turbocharger air hose -4- from the turbocharger by lifting the retaining clips a little.
–  Separate the electrical wiring from clamps -1-.
–  Remove the supercharger air pipe.

–  Separate the connector -arrow- on the coolant temperature sender -G62- and leave wiring open.

–  Pull the release pin -arrow 1- and unscrew knurled nut -arrow 2-.
–  Remove the centre connector for the injectors-pump and release the wiring harness.

–  Extract the bracket and remove the connector -arrow- from the Hall sender -G40-.

–  Disconnect coolant hose -arrow- leading to heat exchanger from coolant pipe.
–  Remove securing bolt -1- of coolant pipe.

–  Detach coolant hoses at the connections indicated -arrows-.

–  Disconnect coolant hose -3- leading to heat exchanger from coolant pipe.

–  Unscrew the oil delivery tube coupling nut -3- and the securing bolt -4- from its housing.
–  Remove securing bolt -1- of coolant pipe.
–  Unscrew the oil supply bolt on the support -2-.

–  Disconnect the coolant hoses -1- and -5-.
–  Unscrew bolts -2- and -3- and flip the support -4- forwards.
–  Pull coolant pipe out of cylinder block -arrow-.

–  Place the oil supply pipe -1- carefully, behind the hose connection -2-, on the coolant flange to the left on the cylinder head.
–  Guide the coolant tube -3- first backwards, to the dashboard -arrow-.
–  Finally, to extract it, pull on the coolant tube forwards.
Installing
Continue the installation in the reverse order of removal sequence, observing the following:
  Note
t  Replace gaskets, seals and O-rings.
t  Secure all hose connections with the correct hose clips (same as original equipment) → Electronic spare parts catalogue.
–  Clean or smoothen sealing surface for O-ring.

–  Lubricate the new O-ring -1- with »G12+« and fit in the coolant pipe -2-.
–  Slide coolant pipe into opening in cylinder block.
–  Fit the oil filter bracket → Chapter.
–  Install the selector mechanism in the gearbox and adjust → 5-speed manual gearbox 0A4; Repair group 34; Servicing selector mechanism.
