Intake manifold: Removing and installing, engine code letters BLS t  Removing → Anchor t  Installing → Anchor t  Tightening torques → Anchor Consult the equivalence table for tools and equipment according to applicability among Seat / VW / Audi / Skoda → Chapter. Special tools and workshop equipment required

t  Torque wrench kit -SAT 8010-, see equivalent → Anchor

t  Base -T20174-, see equivalent → Anchor

Removing –  First remove the outer cover -1- and then the inner cover -2- upwards equally.

–  Release the fuel and coolant hoses from their fittings on the air duct. –  Remove bolt -1-. –  Remove air duct by lifting retaining clips -arrows- slightly.

–  Detach electrical connector -1- of the engine intake manifold flap -V157-. –  Unscrew the bolts -arrows- and remove the intake manifold flap motor -V157-.

–  Unplug the electrical connector -1- on the exhaust gas recirculation valve -N18- together with the exhaust gas recirculation potentiometer -G212-. –  Remove the electrical harness from the brackets and move to one side. –  Unscrew bolts -arrows-. –  Remove the exhaust gas recirculation valve -N18- of the intake manifold.   Note For improved understanding, it is shown from the rear in the illustration with engine removed.

Engine with particle filter –  Disconnect electrical connection -4- for lambda probe -G39-.

–  Unscrew the lambda probe -3- with the lambda probe ring spanner -3337-. –  Unbolt the support -2- of the pressure hoses. –  Unscrew the pressure hose -4- of the particle filter. –  Unscrew the brackets -1- of the particle filter. –  Remove the brackets.

Continued for all vehicles –  Remove central noise insulation -Attachment parts 1 ... 3-.

–  Remove the noise insulation on the right side -Attachment parts 1 ... 3-.

Engine with particle filter –  Unscrew the pressure hoses -2- towards the pressure sensor 1 of the exhaust gases -G450-.

–  Disconnect the electrical connector -arrow- for temperature sender 1 of the exhaust gases -G450-. –  Unscrew exhaust gas pressure sensor 1 -G450- and remove together with the pressure hoses. –  Remove right wheel articulated drive shaft from the gearbox flange and move it towards the oil sump.

–  Unscrew bolts -1 ... 3- and take pendulum support out.

–  Unscrew the brackets -1- of the particle filter. –  Remove the brackets.

–  Unscrew the bolts -arrows- of the particle filter bracket.

–  Remove front crosspiece from vehicle underbody -arrows-.   Note The flexible pipe connection (de-coupling element) in the front exhaust pipe must not be bent more than 10° - otherwise it can be damaged. –  Unscrew the nuts on the double clamp -1-.

–  Unbolt the exhaust system bracket -arrows-.

–  Remove the particle filter by turning 180º and remove it between the floor well and the front mechanical bridge. Engine without particle filter –  Remove front exhaust pipe with catalytic converter → Chapter.

Continued for all vehicles –  Unscrew nuts -1-, the bolt -2- and the hollow belt -3-. –  Remove the exhaust gas turbocharger bracket together with the oil return hose.

–  Remove the thermal protection plate on the left of the exhaust manifold -arrows-.

–  Remove the bolts -arrows- which are in the flange found between the exhaust gas recirculation radiator and the intake manifold.

–  Unscrew bolts -arrows-. –  Remove the intake manifold by moving it to the right and up. Installing Continue the installation in the reverse order of removal sequence, observing the following:   Note t  Apply the correct tightening torques. t  Renew seals, gaskets and self-locking nuts. t  Note the installation position of intake manifold gasket. t  The sleeves for the hoses and the supercharger air flow tubes should be free of oil and grease before fitting. t  Secure all hose connections with the correct hose clips (original parts) → ETKA (Electronic parts catalogue). –  Install the front exhaust section with the particle filter → Chapter. –  Align exhaust system without tension → Chapter –  Fit the supercharger air system hoses and observe the assembly instructions → Chapter. Tightening torques
