Special tools and workshop equipment required
t  Torque wrench kit -SAT 8010-, see equivalent → Anchor
t  Socket wrench 22 mm -T20202A-, see equivalent → Anchor
t  Ratchet 1/2' x 9-12 -VAG 1331/1-, see equivalent → Anchor

   
Removing
–  Detach the outer -1- and inner -2- engine covers, by pulling them evenly upwards.

–  Separate the connector -4- for lambda probe -G39- and move cable to one side.
  A23-10003
–  Undo the lambda probe -G39--3- using the socket wrench E/C 22 -T20202A- and the "ratchet 1/2"" x 9-12" -VAG 1331/1-.
Fitting
Installation is carried out in the reverse sequence; note the following:
t  The thread of new lambda probes is covered with assembly paste.
t  If a used lambda probe is to be reused, cover the thread with hot working bolts application paste; hot working bolts application paste: →  Spare parts catalogue.
t  The mounting paste or hot screw threadlock should not reach the grooves of the probe body.
t  When assembling, the lambda probe cable must be fixed in its original position to avoid contact with the exhaust pipe.
