t  Fuel drainage equipment -VAS 5190-, see equivalent → Anchor

Operation process
Observe safety precautions → Chapter.
Observe rules for cleanliness → Chapter.
  Caution
Fix the fuel drainage equipment earth wire -VAS 5190- to a bare metal portion of the chassis.
–  Remove the conical part -2- of the rod -1- of the fuel drainage equipment -VAS 5190-.
–  Mark the hose by sticking a piece of electrical tape -arrow- at a distance -of- 1370 mm with respect to the purge hose end.

–  Remove the tank filler cap.
–  Thread the rod -1- of the fuel purge unit -VAS 5190- in the fuel tank fill neck.
–  Insert the suction hose up until the mark made previously -arrow- is at the level of the rod.

t  If you use a purge unit without rod, proceed in the same way.
t  In this case, stick on the flexible hose a piece of electrical tape as a mark -arrow- at a distance -of-1,305 mm with respect to the end of the hose. The purge hose will be correctly introduced when the previous mark stays at the same level of the edge of the fill neck.
t  If the hose is hard to introduce, apply a fine layer of engine oil. In no case should you use lubricating products that contain silicon.
–  Via the fill neck, empty the fuel tank as much as possible.
–  Carefully remove the purge hose.
–  Remove fuel delivery unit → Chapter.
–  Purge the fuel from the chamber directly from the tank via the opening for the fuel supply unit.
–  Introduce the hose in the left chamber of the fuel tank and purge the remaining fuel that is found there.
