Fitting
Installation is carried out in the reverse order. When installing, note the following:
only in vehicles from 11.05
  Note
From 11.05, the spring for airbag/retractor ring with contact ring -F138- no longer has the safety spring which locks the ring. Also in those equipped with the steering angle sender -G85-.
   
–  Remove the adhesive tape -2- after securing the combination switch to the steering column -1-.
Continued for all vehicles
The steering angle sender -G85- must be in a central position before fitting.
–  Insert the steering angle sender -G85- until it fits.

As an aid when centring the steering angle sender -G85-: You must be able to see a yellow point in the borehole -arrow 1-.
–  The Airbag connector -arrow 2- must be centred in the upper part with respect to the vertical axle.
only vehicles up to 11.05
–  The locking spring to lock the ring -arrow 3- must be raised so that the airbag slip ring does not turn.
Continued for all vehicles
Ensure it remains in a central position.
–  Insert the driver's airbag → Airbag unit on driver's side: removing and installing; Rep. Gr. 69
–  Insert the steering wheel → Removing and installing steering wheel; Rep. Gr.69.
–  Then the basic setting of the steering angle sender -G85 - must be carried out.
–  Connect the vehicle diagnostic, measuring and information system -VAS 505X- and select the function → Chapter.
