General indications regarding the antilock braking system
General indications regarding the antilock braking system
The ABS brake system is divided diagonally. The vacuum servo brake pneumatically increases the braking force.
Vehicles with ABS are not fitted with a mechanical brake pressure regulator. A specially matched software in the control unit controls the rear axle brake pressure regulation.
Malfunctions in the ABS system do not influence the brake system and servo. Without ABS, the conventional brake system continues to function. It must be noted that the brakes will respond differently. After the ABS warning lamp comes on, the rear wheels may lock prematurely during braking.

Arrangement of the ABS in left-hand drive vehicles:
1 - Hydraulic unit and control unit
2 - Brake servo unit

Arrangement of the ABS in right-hand drive vehicles:
1 - Hydraulic unit and control unit
2 - Brake servo unit
The control unit and hydraulic are combined in a single component. Separation is not possible. Hydraulic pump must not be separated from hydraulic unit either.
