Use only new brake fluid. Observe information on brake fluid reservoir!
   
1 - Pedal cluster
2 - Self-locking hexagon nut, 25 Nm
q   Always renew if removed
q   First tighten at bottom left and then at top right.
3 - Seal
q   For brake servo.
4 - Brake servo unit
q   In petrol engines the vacuum required is taken from the intake manifold.
q   Vehicles with a 2.0 l petrol engine are equipped in addition with an vacuum pump → Chapter.
q   Vehicles with HBS are equipped with a vacuum sender. → Chapter
q   Diesel engines are fitted with an vacuum pump to create the required vacuum → Chapter.
q   Function check:
–  With engine switched off, depress brake pedal firmly several times (to exhaust vacuum in unit).
–  Then hold brake pedal in applied position employing moderate force and start engine. If the brake servo is functioning properly, the brake pedal will be felt to go down as the servo takes effect.
q   If faulty renew complete unit (check all vacuum lines first)
q   removing and fitting → Chapter
5 - Seal
6 - Brake master cylinder
q   Cannot be repaired. If faulty, replace completely.
q   removing and fitting → Chapter
7 - Torx socket head bolt, 8 Nm
8 - Brake light switch -F-
q   Is fastened at the bottom to the main brake cylinder with a clip
q   removing and fitting → Chapter
9 - Heat shield
q   Allocation ⇒Electronic Parts Catalogue (ETKA)
10 - Self-locking hexagon nut, 25 Nm
q   Always renew if removed
11 - Brake line, 14 Nm
q   From secondary piston circuit of brake master cylinder to hydraulic unit.
12 - Brake line, 14 Nm
q   Master brake cylinder / pressure-rod piston circuit to hydraulic unit
13 - Seal cap
q   Moisten with brake fluid and press into brake fluid reservoir
14 - Brake fluid deposit
15 - Sealing cap
16 - Vacuum hose
q   With non-return valve and additional vacuum sender -G608- on vehicles with HBV
q   Insert into brake servo
q   Removing and installing vacuum sender -G608- → Chapter
17 - Seal cap
q   Vacuum hose connection
