The inspection instructions listed in the following are provided to support with the effective and objective fault finding in event of complaints on the brake servo.
This inspection refers to the following components:
t  Brake servo unit
t  Seal between brake master cylinder and brake servo
t  Retaining valve
t  Vacuum hoses with connectors
t  Vacuum pump (when installed)
When inspecting, the measuring values must be observed that are influenced by the geographical location. The higher the measuring location is above sea level, the lower the air pressure.
Before inspecting the vacuum system, the following basic requirements for the inspection have to be noted under all circumstances:
t  Visual inspection of all vacuum hose for damage (e.g. cracks or vermin bites - in some countries) and their tight fit.
t  Rules of cleanliness to be taken into account when working on the vacuum system.
t  If necessary, the engine compartment must be cleaned before commencing work.
