Vacuum pump for 2.0l /147 kW petrol engines: Removing and installing
Removal:
  Note
Before removing the vacuum pump, the high-pressure fuel pump must be removed → Rep. gr.24.
   
The vacuum pump -arrow- is mounted to the right (in driving direction) in the engine compartment at the back.

–  Remove the engine cover -arrows-.
The plenum chamber partition panel does not have to be removed.
  WARNING
Before the fuel supply line is opened so that the high pressure pump can be removed, the fuel pressure in the high pressure system must be lowered to approx. 6 bar → Rep. gr.24.
–  Remove high-pressure fuel pump → Rep. gr.24.

–  Slacken ignition coil rail at bracket.
–  Carefully unplug connectors -arrows- for ignition coils.
–  Carefully press ignition coil rail to one side.
–  Unscrew lines at high-pressure pump and vacuum pump and press to one side.

–  Disconnect the vacuum hose -1- from the vacuum pump on the hose clamp.
–  Loosen the section of the electrical lines that may have been attached to the flap of the vacuum pump.
  Caution
Take care not to damage the vacuum hose. The vacuum hose must be replaced if it is damaged.
–  Unscrew all fixing bolts -arrows- from the vacuum pump.
  Note
Do not disconnect vacuum hose from vacuum line at plenum chamber partition panel -2-.
–  Pull the vacuum pump from the holder.
Installation
Installation is carried out in reverse order. When installing, note the following:

t  Make sure that the coupling of the vacuum pump has been mounted on the camshaft correctly.
t  Always replace the seals of the vacuum pump.
Ensure that seal is seated correctly.
–  Ensure that seal is seated correctly.
  A15-10036
–  Screw in all screws -arrows- of the vacuum pump and tighten to 10 Nm.
–  Slide new hose clamp over vacuum hose.
–  Push the vacuum hose into the sleeve of the vacuum pump -1-.
  WARNING
The vacuum hose must always be fed into the connection of the vacuum pump as far as possible.
–  Use suitable pliers to tighten hose clip on connection of vacuum pump.
–  Tighten lines to high-pressure pump and vacuum pump.

–  Plug in connectors -arrows- for ignition coils.
–  Secure ignition coil rail.
–  Install high-pressure fuel pump → Rep. gr.24.
–  Fit engine cover .
