  Note!
t  After replacing brake pads, depress brake pedal firmly several times with vehicle stationary, so that the brake pads are properly seated in their normal operating position.
t  After work for which the brake system had to be opened, bleed the brake system with brake charge and bleed system -VAS 5234- or extraction unit -V.A.G 1869/4-.
t  Before removing a brake caliper or disconnecting a brake hose, fit brake pedal actuator -V.A.G 1869/2- (release pressure in system).
   
1 - Allen bolt, 10 Nm
2 - ABS speed sensor
q   Before inserting sensor, clean fitting hole inner surface and coat with lubricating paste G 000 650
3 - Suspension link
4 - Drive shaft
q   With rotor for speed sensor
5 - Tensioning disc with rotor
q   Vehicles with front-wheel drive only.
6 - Self-locking hexagon nut
7 - Cover plate
8 - Hexagon bolt, 10 Nm
9 - Wheel bearing
10 - Circlip
q   Ensure proper seating.
11 - Hub
12 - Washer
13 - Hexagon bolt
14 - Brake disc
q   When worn, always renew both sides.
q   Thickness 10 mm.
q   Wear limit 8 mm.
15 - Allen head bolt, 10 Nm
16 - Bracket
17 - Connector
q   When changing pads, remove from bracket → Item.
18 - Brake carrier with guide pin and protective cap
q   Supplied as replacement part, assembled with sufficient grease on guide pins.
q   If protective caps or guide pins are damaged, install repair kit. Use grease sachet supplied to lubricate guide pins
19 - Hexagon bolt, 110 Nm
20 - Protective cap
21 - Guide pin
22 - Brake caliper
q   Do not disconnect brake hose when changing brake pads.
q   Removing:
q   Remove brake pads → Chapter.
q   Insert brake pedal actuator -V.A.G 1869/2- (and relieve pressure).
q   Unscrew brake hose from brake caliper
q   Installing:
q   Insralling brake pads → Chapter.
q   Screw on brake hose with brake caliper
q   Remove brake pedal actuator -V.A.G 1869/2-.
q   Bleed brake system → Chapter.
q   Adjust handbrake cable first after repairing or replacement.
q   Adjust handbrake → Chapter.
q   Repairing → Chapter.
23 - Self-locking hexagon bolt, 35 Nm
q   Renew.
q   When loosening and tightening, counter hold on guide pin.
24 - Brake pads
q   Thickness 12 mm not including backplate.
q   Wear limit: 2 mm not including backplate.
q   Checking thickness: → Booklet10.1.
q   Always renew both sides.
q   Removing and installing → Chapter.
25 - Brake pads
q   Always renew both sides.
q   With wear indicator.
q   When wear reaches a predetermined limit (approx 4 mm) the warning lamp in dash panel insert comes on.
q   Thickness 12 mm not including backplate.
q   Wear limit: 2 mm not including backplate.
q   Checking thickness: → Booklet10.1.
q   Always renew both sides.
q   Removing and installing → Chapter.
26 - Hexagon bolt, 10 Nm
