q | When changing pads, remove from bracket → Item. |
18 - | Brake carrier with guide pin and protective cap |
q | Supplied as replacement part, assembled with sufficient grease on guide pins. |
q | If protective caps or guide pins are damaged, install repair kit. Use grease sachet supplied to lubricate guide pins |

q | Do not disconnect brake hose when changing brake pads. |

q | Remove brake pads → Chapter. |
q | Insert brake pedal actuator -V.A.G 1869/2- (and relieve pressure). |
q | Unscrew brake hose from brake caliper |
q | Installing: |
q | Insralling brake pads → Chapter. |
q | Screw on brake hose with brake caliper |
q | Remove brake pedal actuator -V.A.G 1869/2-. |
q | Bleed brake system → Chapter. |
q | Adjust handbrake cable first after repairing or replacement. |
q | Adjust handbrake → Chapter. |
q | Repairing → Chapter. |
23 - | Self-locking hexagon bolt, 35 Nm |
q | Renew. |
q | When loosening and tightening, counter hold on guide pin. |
24 - | Brake pads |
q | Thickness 12 mm not including backplate. |
q | Wear limit: 2 mm not including backplate. |
q | Checking thickness: → Booklet10.1. |
q | Always renew both sides. |
q | Removing and installing → Chapter. |
25 - | Brake pads |
q | Always renew both sides. |
q | With wear indicator. |
q | When wear reaches a predetermined limit (approx 4 mm) the warning lamp in dash panel insert comes on. |
