Removing
–  Fit the block for the brake pedal -V.A.G 1869/2-.
–  Operate the brake pedal using the block.
–  Remove the wheel and raise the vehicle.
Four wheel drive vehicles
–  First remove the driveshaft. Driveshaft: removing and fitting → Chapter.
Continues for all vehicles
–  Remove the ABS revolution sensor from the steering knuckle.
   
–  Remove the clip -1-.
–  Push the brake lever -2- in the -direction of the arrow-, and release the hand brake cable -3-.
–  Remove the brake support and clip, and hang on the bodywork using a wire.

–  Release the hand brake cable -1- from its fixtures on the swinging arm -arrows A-.
–  Remove the brake piping -2--arrow B-.
–  Remove the revolution sensor cable -3- from its supports on the swinging arm -arrows C-.
–  Remove brake disc and cover plate.

–  Remove the revolution sensor cable -1- from the support -2- by pulling in the direction of the arrow.
–  Loosen the brake piping -3- from the swinging arm.
–  Release the hand brake cable from the swinging arm.
–  Remove the shock absorber and the spring → Chapter.
–  Place the elevator -V.A.G 1383 A- under the swinging arm.

–  Remove the bolts -1-.
–  Remove the bolts -2- and -3-.
–  Lower the swinging arm with the elevator -V.A.G 1383 A-, and remove it.
