Transversal swinging arm: removing and fitting
Consult the equivalence table for tools and equipment according to applicability between Seat / VW / Audi / Skoda → Chapter.
Special tools and workshop equipment required
   
t  Torque wrench -V.A.G 1331-, see equivalent → Anchor.

t  Torque wrench -V.A.G 1332-, see equivalent → Anchor.

t  Due to the inaccessibility of the inner bolt -1- when the vehicle is standing on wheels, the transverse link can only be removed after the subframe has been removed.
t  After repairs, check the wheel alignment → Chapter.
Removal:
–  Remove subframe → Chapter.
–  Mark position of eccentric bolt -2- on wheelhouse bearing.
–  Remove the bolts -1- and -2-.
Installation
Installation is carried out in the reverse sequence; note the following:

t  Replace bolts and self-locking nuts ⇒ instructions in the exploded view from page → Chapter.
t  Do not interchange left and right components. The letters „R“ or „L“ are stamped on the back of the transverse link.

Installation position of transverse link on subframe
–  Bolt transverse link -2- loosely to subframe.
–  Lay a ruler or straightedge -1- flat on the mounting bracket of the anti roll bar -arrow-.
–  Insert the transverse link in such a way that the dimension a = 142±1 mm is achieved.
–  Secure transverse link to subframe in this position → Item.

–  Screw wheel bearing housing to crossmember and tighten new nut to 20 Nm. Note installation position of eccentric bolt -2-.
–  Install subframe → Chapter.
–  Bonded rubber bushes can only be turned to a limited extent. The mountings of the suspension links must therefore only be tightened when the suspension is in the unladen position → Chapter.
–  Slacken and then re-tighten bolt connection -2- → Item.
–  Wheel alignment → Chapter
Setting of the running gear must be done with an alignment stand recommended by SEAT.
