| New replacement steering columns are fitted with a transport lock. |
| This transport lock must be removed after installing the steering column in the vehicle. |
| If a used steering column is removed and re-installed, an assembly aid is required during removal to prevent the top and bottom sections of the steering column from pulling apart while being detached from the steering box. Use a cable tie or length of wire as an assembly aid. |
| The splines will separate if the upper and lower sections of the steering column are pulled apart or telescoped together too far. |
| Rattling noise may develop while driving if the splines are no longer engaged in their original position. |
