Bleeding the hydraulic unit (vehicles with ABS/TCS/ESP BOSCH 8.0)

Special tools and workshop equipment required
t  Vehicle system tester -V.A.G 1552- or vehicle diagnosis, measurement and information system -VAS 505x-
t  Brake filling and bleeding device, e. g. -VAS 5234-
t  Brake fluid → Chapter
It is only necessary to carry out the basic setting if at least one chamber of the brake fluid reservoir has run completely empty, or after completing repairs to the brake system because of leaks.
Perform basic setting using the vehicle diagnosis, measurement and information system -VAS 505x-
→ Vehicle diagnostic, testing and information system VAS 5051
Perform basic setting using the vehicle system tester -V.A.G 1552-
  Note
t  Operate the vehicle system tester -V.A.G 1552- by referring to the read-out on the display:
t  When performing the basic setting, the brake filling and bleeding device, e.g. -VAS 5234-, must always be operative. Do not separate!
  WARNING
When replenishing brake fluid with a brake filling and bleeding appliance, it is important to ensure a minimum filling pressure of 0.2 MPa (2 bar).
If the filling pressure of 2 MPa (2 bar) is not reached, proper bleeding of the hydraulic unit is no longer assured.
–  Connect brake filling and bleeding device, e. g. -VAS 5234-.
–  Bleeding Brake System → Chapter.
–  Connect up vehicle system tester -V.A.G 1552- and enter the control unit for brake electronics with the ignition switched on (address word 03) → Chapter.
   
Readout on display:
–  Select function 04„Basic setting“ and confirm with Q.

–  Actuate the brake pedal 10x and hold the brake down.
–  Press 0, 1 and 0 and confirm with Q.

–  Press the key 8.

Release pedal;FR+FL bleeder screw OPEN [according to    ]8>
Readout on display:
t  Return flow pump for ABS -V39- runs.

Actuate pedal 10x; wait
Readout on display:
t  Return flow pump for ABS -V39- runs.
  
Basic setting 10   [according to    ]8-OFF>
Actuate pedal 10x; wait
Readout on display:
–  Press the key 8.
  
Basic setting 10   [according to    ]8-OFF>
Bleeder screw CLOSED                 [according to    ]8>
Readout on display:
–  Press the key 8.
  
Basic setting 10   [according to    ]8-OFF>
Release pedal;RR+RL bleeder screw OPEN [according to    ]8>
Readout on display:
t  Return flow pump for ABS -V39- runs.

Actuate pedal 10x; wait
Readout on display:
–  Press the key 8.

Bleeder screw CLOSED                 [according to    ]8>

Part bleeding ended...

–  Press 0and 6 for the function „End output“ and confirm with Q.

–  Switch off ignition.
–  Separate plug connection to V.A.G. 1552.
–  Bleeding Brake System → Chapter.
–  Separate brake filling and bleeding device, e.g. -VAS 5234-.
–  Perform test drive with at least one ABS adjustment.
