All components marked with 1) can be tested using the vehicle system tester -V.A.G 1552- or the fault read-out scan tool -V.A.G 1551- or using the vehicle diagnosis, measurement and information system -VAS 5051-.
1 - Hydraulic control unit BOSCH 8.0 1)
q   fitted as of CW 22/2004
q   different versions:
t  ABS
t  ABS/TCS
t  Assignment → Electronic Catalogue of Original Parts
t  Distinguishing features → Chapter
q   Fitting position: in right of engine compartment
q   removing and installing → Chapter
2 - Traction control system switch -E132 - or TCS and ESP button -E256-1)
q   Fitting location: centre part of dash panel above radio
q   Operation: Switching off the TCS or ESP function
q   removing and installing → Electrical System → Rep. gr.96
3 - Traction control system warning light -K86- or ESP and TCS warning light -K155-
q   Fitting location: in dash panel insert - Pos. 6
Operation:
q   The warning light lights up:
t  for about 2 seconds after ignition is switched on
t  if fault is detected in TCS or ESP operation
t  after switching the traction control system switch or TCS and ESP button to „OFF“
→ Chapter
q   The warning light flashes:
t  during TCS/ESP control
4 - ABS warning light -K47-
q   Fitting location: in dash panel insert - Pos. 6
Operation:
q   The ABS warning light lights up:
t  for about 2 seconds after the ignition is switched on or the engine is started
t  if a fault is detected, e.g. open circuit to wheel speed sensor

5 - Dual circuit and hand brake system warning light -K7-
q   Fitting location: in dash panel insert - Pos. 6
Operation:
q   Dual circuit and hand brake system warning light:
t  lights up if hand-brake is applied
t  flashes if low brake fluid level
t  lights up for about 2 seconds after ignition is switched on
t  lights up if the electronic brake pressure distribution fails, i.e. when the ABS warning light -K47- comes on
6 - Dash panel insert
q   fitted up to model year 2004
7 - Traction control system warning light -K86- or ESP and TCS warning light -K155-
q   Fitting location: in dash panel insert - Pos. 10
Operation:
q   The warning light lights up:
t  for about 2 seconds after ignition is switched on
t  if fault is detected in TCS or ESP operation
t  after switching the traction control system switch or TCS and ESP button to „OFF“
→ Chapter
q   The warning light flashes:
t  during TCS/ESP control

q   Fitting location: in dash panel insert - Pos. 10
Operation:
q   The ABS warning light lights up:
t  for about 2 seconds after the ignition is switched on or the engine is started
t  if a fault is detected, e.g. open circuit to wheel speed sensor

q   Fitting location: in dash panel insert - Pos. 10
Operation:
q   Dual circuit and hand brake system warning light:
t  lights up if hand-brake is applied
t  flashes if low brake fluid level
t  lights up for about 2 seconds after ignition is switched on
t  lights up if the electronic brake pressure distribution fails, i.e. when the ABS warning light -K47- comes on

11 - Steering angle sender -G85-1)
q   only on vehicles with ABS/TCS/ESP BOSCH 8.0
q   Fitting location: on the steering column between the steering wheel and the steering column switch
q   removing and installing → Chapter
12 - Diagnostic connection
q   Fitting location: in the storage compartment on the driver's side
13 - Rear right and rear left wheel speed sensors -G44/G46-1)
q   removing and installing (disc brake or drum brake) → Chapter
q   Rear wheel speed sensor cables
t  removing and installing (disc brake or drum brake) → Chapter
14 - Wheel hub with wheel bearing
q   Sensor ring for ABS is built into the wheel hub
t  removing and installing: can only be replaced together with wheel hub and wheel bearing → Chapter
15 - Handbrake warning switch -F9-1)
q   Fitting location: on handbrake lever
q   removing and installing → Chapter
16 - ESP sensor unit -G419-1)
q   only on vehicles with ABS/TCS/ESP BOSCH 8.0
q   Fitting location: under the left front seat
q   removing and installing → Chapter
q   Lateral acceleration sender -G200- and yaw rate sender -G202- are combined in a common housing with the ESP sensor unit -G419-
t  there are no separate fault codes
17 - Brake light switch -F-1)
q   Assignment → Electronic Catalogue of Original Parts
q   is open in the off position
t  adjust → Chapter
t  removing and installing → Chapter
t  replace after each removal
18 - Wheel hub with wheel bearing
q   Sensor ring for ABS is built into the wheel hub
t  removing and installing: can only be replaced together with wheel hub and wheel bearing → Chapter
19 - Brake servo unit with master brake cylinder and brake fluid reservoir
20 - Front right and front left wheel speed sensors -G45/G47-1)
q   removing and installing → Chapter
q   Front wheel speed sensor cables
t  removing and installing → Chapter
21 - Hydraulic control unit BOSCH 8.0 1)
q   fitted as of CW 22/2004
q   ABS/TCS/ESP
