Pre-bleeding the brake caliper > < Assembly overview of the rear brake caliper

Special tools and workshop equipment required
t  Resetting tool -T 10165 -
t  Disassembly wedge -3409-
t  Bleeding bottle (commercially available)
t  Lithium grease -G 052 150 A2-
t  Brake fluid → Chapter
Removing:
   
–  Insert the resetting tool -T 10165 - in such a way that the collar is resting on the piston.
–  Release the piston by turning the knurled wheel of the resetting tool -T 10165 - to the left.
t  Use open-jawed spanner on a provided spanner surface -arrow A- if the piston is difficult to move.
  Note
Make sure that the cylinder surface is not damaged when removing the gasket ring.

–  Remove gasket ring with disassembly wedge -3409-.
Installing:
–  Clean piston and gasket ring with white spirits and dry off.
–  Before installing the piston and gasket ring in the brake caliper housing thinly coat with lithium grease -G 052 150 A2-.
–  Insert new gasket ring in the brake caliper housing.

–  Position the new protective cap with the outer sealing lip on the piston.
  S47-0037
–  Insert inner sealing lip of the protective cap with disassembly wedge -3409 - in the groove of the cylinder.
   To do so hold the piston with the hand.
  S47-0038
–  Insert resetting tool -T 10165 -.
   The collar -arrow A- must rest on the brake caliper.
  Note
t  Use open-jawed spanner on a provided spanner surface -arrow A- if the piston is difficult to move.
t  The automatic adjustment in the brake caliper is destroyed when adjusting the piston with a piston resetting jig or by actuating the foot brake.
–  Screw in piston by turning the knurled wheel to the right.
–  Insert brake pads.
