| Connect the diode test lamp between contact 2 (earth control of the engine control unit) and contact 1 (pos. term, of the fuel pump relay) of the plug. |

| Initiate an actuator diagnosis and select the activated charcoal filter solenoid valve 1 -N80- → Chapter. |
| The diode test lamp must flash. |
| If the dioden test lamp does not flash or if it remains lit: |
| –
| Connect test box -V.A.G 1598/31- to the wiring loom on the engine control unit → Chapter. |
| –
| Test the wire from contact 2 of the plug on the activated charcoal filter solenoid valve 1 -N80- to bush 61 of the test box for continuity as well as short-circuit to earth or pos. term. |
| If there is neither a line interruption nor a short-circuit: |
