Function of dynamic oil pressure warning system if oil pressure low
The oil pressure switch is opened when pressureless and closed when the switching pressure is reached.
The oil pressure warning is activated for about 10 s after the ignition is switched on (“terminal 15 on”). The activation delay of the oil pressure warning system: about 3 seconds. The de-activation delay of the oil pressure warning system: about 5 seconds.
Test warning light
After the ignition is switched on and the engine is not running, the oil pressure warning light in the dash panel insert must come on for about 3 s and then go out. The check is ended when the engine is started.
Warning criteria
The visual oil pressure warning is switched on (oil pressure warning light flashes) and the buzzer sounds 3 times as an audible warning if at least one of the following conditions exists:
l  “Ignition on”, engine not running, oil pressure switch closed
l  Engine speed greater than 1500 rpm-1, oil pressure switch closed
–  At an engine speed above 5000 rpm-1, the oil pressure warning is not cancelled; also not if the oil pressure switch is closed. The oil pressure warning is cancelled below 5000 rpm-1.
–  If the oil pressure switch is open for only 0.5 to 3 seconds at an engine speed above 1500 rpm-1, this is stored in the combination processor of the dash panel insert. If this condition occurs 3 times when the engine is running, the oil pressure warning is immediately activated and is not cancelled below 1500 rpm-1. The oil pressure warning is cancelled once the oil pressure switch is closed for more than 5 s at an engine speed of above 1500 rpm-1, or if “ignition off”.
Test conditions
l  Engine oil level o.k., test → Fabia.
l  Oil pressure warning light -K3- must come on for about 3 seconds when the ignition is switched on.
l  Engine oil temperature at least 80 °C (radiator fan must have run once).
Test sequence
–  Disconnect plug from pressure switch.

–  Unscrew the oil pressure switch -F1- from the cylinder block and screw it with the adapter -V.A.G 1342/13 - into the oil pressure tester -V.A.G 1342 -.
–  Connect the oil pressure tester -V.A.G 1342 - with the installed oil pressure switch -F1- with adapter -V.A.G 1342/12- at the threaded hole in the cylinder block.
–  Connect brown cable -1- of tester to earth (-).
–  Connect voltage tester, e.g. -V.A.G 1527 B -, to oil pressure switch -2- and to battery positive (+).
l  The LED must not light up.
If the LED lights up:
–  Replace oil pressure switch.
If the LED does not light up:
–  Start engine and increase engine speed.
l  The LED must come on at a pressure of 0.075 ... 0.105 MPa.
If it does not light up:
–  Replace oil pressure switch.
If it does light up:
–  Increase engine speed further:
l  At 2000 rpm-1 and an oil temperature of 80°C the oil pressure should be at least 0.2 MPa.
If the specified value is not reached:
–  Check the axial play of the oil pump → Chapter.
l  At a higher engine speed the oil pressure must not be greater than 0.7 MPa.
If the oil pressure is higher:
–  Replace oil pump cover with pressure relief valve.
