–  Unplug the 2-pin plug for the coolant temperature sensor -G62--arrow-.

–  Connect up digital potentiometer V.A.G -1630- to contacts 1 + 2 of the plug connection and set the connected side to 15 kΩ.

–  Hold measuring vessel under the injection valve to be tested and disconnect the plug on the other injection valves.
–  Have a 2nd mechanic actuate the starter. The injection valve must emit a pulsed jet of fuel.
–  Repeat test at the other injectors. Make sure that only the valve to be tested is connected.
The jet must be the same for all valves.
–  Then check the injection valve for leaks. No more than 2 drops/min may trickle out.
If the fuel loss is greater than this:
–  Switch off ignition.
–  Replace the faulty injector → Chapter.
